The absence of light occurs everywhere. Every day we feel the impact of its unsympathetic
tendrils….and with the darkness….fear, revulsion and horror reveals itself….

These tracks were recorded January – September 2014 in the post-industrial
surroundings of Birmingham, UK.

The cover shows an image of the former Central Library of Birmingham,
currently scheduled for demolition.

“The elusive D.N.P has worked magic once again, to provide beautifully bleak, relentless soundscapes to the spoken word of David Duell (ex Fade to Sepia/Bombers). While Duell delivers his nightmarish prose and poetry calmly, but inexorably, D.N.P has created a haunting world of industrial isolation, that truly makes the experience an immersive one”

David Duell’s prose can be found at http://dcduell.wordpress.com/

Cover art – Unchanging Window (acrylic on canvas 2011), by Robin Pugh robinpugh.wix.com/slinky-art creator of the darkest paintings I’ve ever seen. Buy his paintings…make him a star….

A live recording made 27/02/2014 straight off the mixing desk. This was the final rehearsal for the D.N.P live debut at City Tavern, Birmingham, UK the following evening.

A few small glitches and errors notably a desk overload at about 15 mins in for a few seconds but that’s the fun and unpredictability of performing live and rehearsing to get it right.

Beatless, desolate, lost sounds. This album was composed entirely using Virtual ANS.

The ANS synthesizer is a photoelectronic musical instrument created by Russian engineer Evgeny Murzin from 1937 to 1957. The technological basis of his invention was the method of graphical sound recording used in cinematography (developed in Russia concurrently with USA), which made it possible to obtain a visible image of a sound wave, as well as to realize the opposite goal—synthesizing a sound from an artificially drawn sound spectrogram. – from Wikipedia

I thought this was an original idea until I discovered that Coil released a triple album of ANS noise back in 2004. Oh well.

Recorded Nov 2013 – May 2014 in between other projects.
