Utterances of the weak signals emitted from Little Diomede Island….
isolated, cold and distinguished….

D.N.P. is proud to present their most recent collaboration ‘Radio Diomede’ created with the talented Portuguese sound artist Hyaena Fierling.

Hyaena Fierling´s work is based on improvisation and exploration,
involving the capture of sounds and soundscapes (field work)
as well as programming and editing (based on the canons of film sound)
of sound sequences originated from unorthodox sound sources – wood
and metal objects, stones, different instruments
or the exploration of sound possibilities in spaces with uncanny
acoustic characteristics – the same sound sequences at a later time edited
and sequence according to soundtrack assemblage
composition, breaking the borders of experimental sound and music in cinematic space.

Big thanks once again to Øystein and Rune at Petroglyph for releasing ‘237’ on their label.

This one on playback personally reminds me a little of Alec Empire’s ‘Low on Ice’. Hope whoever listens to it enjoys. As usual, free download, help yourself, please spread the word.

Thanks

It was an honour to be asked to record some tracks exclusive to the superb PhantomCircuit.com internet radio show. These tracks appeared on Show #136.

During the summer of 2014 D.N.P created 4 remix EPs for Futile Escapist Front’s collaborative charity project to raise money and awareness for ‘The Eye Fund’ who provide much needed counselling and aid to those who are losing their sight due to degenerative diseases. D.N.P’s remixes are free however please donate any amount no matter how small to www.eyefund.info as this is what the remix project is all about. Their Paypal link is on their homepage.

For full details and if you wish to be involved please check out the source tracks at soundcloud.com/flesheatingfoundation/sets/futile-escapist-front-for-eye-fund-source-tracks

The overall theme is one of the oppressiveness of losing your vision. The sounds are not meant to be pleasant.

“The elusive D.N.P has worked magic once again, to provide beautifully bleak, relentless soundscapes to the spoken word of David Duell (ex Fade to Sepia/Bombers). While Duell delivers his nightmarish prose and poetry calmly, but inexorably, D.N.P has created a haunting world of industrial isolation, that truly makes the experience an immersive one”

Beatless, desolate, lost sounds. This album was composed entirely using Virtual ANS.

The ANS synthesizer is a photoelectronic musical instrument created by Russian engineer Evgeny Murzin from 1937 to 1957. The technological basis of his invention was the method of graphical sound recording used in cinematography (developed in Russia concurrently with USA), which made it possible to obtain a visible image of a sound wave, as well as to realize the opposite goal—synthesizing a sound from an artificially drawn sound spectrogram. – from Wikipedia

I thought this was an original idea until I discovered that Coil released a triple album of ANS noise back in 2004. Oh well.

Recorded Nov 2013 – May 2014 in between other projects.
